Re: Roll Call

Was a cub for two weeks. We marched round the church hall "practicing for church parade". I left.

Some years later, joined a Scout troop on the other side of town (Sunderland), because a couple of school friends already went there. We didn't just march around the hall, so I stayed with the 76th. Scouting introduced me to rock-climbing and hillwalking, which became lifelong pleasures. This was the time of the restructure, when Seniors became Ventures, and I moved up to the Venture Scout unit to complete my QSA. By then I was at University, and drifted out of Scouting. Did shoot though, running the Rifle Club for a while, which may come in handy again now.

More recently, son decided of his own accord that he would like to join the cubs. Helped at a couple of camps, but resisted Akela/GSL's efforts to recruit me as I don't do well with hordes of youngsters. But as James approached scouting age, the writing was on the wall...

Now ASL with 9th Sittingbourne, and trying to find out how many training sessions I have to go on in order to prove my competence in thing's I've done all my life . . . . .
