Bieng an IT student I think this membership database is quite poorly designed in many respects. However it is the SA and they are only a charity, rather they put resources to other things.
Does anyone know what I am entitled to do with the portal, can I only view and amend my own details or should I be able to view, add and modify the memebers in my section.
Have tried to search for other leaders but hasnt produced anything.
I ticked the Gift Aid box on my profile anyway
I have had discussions with James Wren, both at a Scottish Conference Workshop and via Email.
There are many problems with the functionality. But knowing what you should be able to do, well not a lot is the answer.
I was told I should be able to change appointment information, must be a trap door somewhere, god knows how to do it, Followed the instructions, no luck!
To view the members in your section, they need added!!
You can only find leaders in your group.
I pointed out to Mr Wren that I work in an IT dept of a NHS health board which has 27,000 employees. We run some patient systems, naturally, we:
Have a dedicated team dealing with the system, a dedicated help desk, staff to install & support the equipment, training course & we pay staff to put the information in. We still have issues to deal with when it comes to speedy input of data.
The SA, has say 80,000 volunteer staff
No IT support for them
No IT Training
Computers are generally peoples own computers.
oh and we expect the volunteers to enter the info when they are not a Cubs etc
See the problem!!!!
