Some sailing friends (all yachtmasters or coastal skippers) and I are
contemplating a week cruising in the Baltic next year, but none of us
has been before and we'd be grateful for advice from those in the
know.
What are the most interesting areas (we're all used to west Coast
Scotland, so that's what it has to compete with!)
What's accessible in terms of airports from UK hubs?
Charter companies to plump for/avoid?
Any thoughts on months to sail/not to sail?
Currency considerations: OK so the pound is pants, so where does it
get you a decent deal these days?!
All advice gratefully received!
Cheers

Executive summary:
Sweden and Finland: rocky archipelagos with millions of islands.
The rest: Sandy beaches, few islands, old towns many dating back to
the Hanseatic League (Tallinn etc).
Like a crowd? Go for Danish harbours.
Like to get away from the crowd? Go north, aim for the Bay of Bothnia.
Disclaimer: I live in Stockholm and sail there but I am no expert
on Baltic cruising.
Happy to help though.
