My engine is a Yanmar GM10 with an alternator fitted with a sterling
regulator and diode splitter for 50 ah engine and 85 ah service batteries.

I have a 20 watt solar panel which is connected to the engine battery via
a
Phocos smart solar power regulator with a total of 3 pairs of terminals,
for
solar panel, battery and load (which will isolate itself in the event of
low
voltage to save the battery) This has easily maintained the engine
battery
very well so far and I would now like to include the service battery.

Is there a way I can connect the solar regulator to charge both batteries
using a new separate splitter say from maplin? Or could I connect the
smart
solar regulator to the alternator side of the Sterling unit? I am
unclear
about either of these options as the smart "Phocos" unit would need to
"see"
the individual battery voltages in order to determine its control actions.
Or maybe I just have to bite the bullet and buy a new solar regulator with
a
split charger combined? TIA

You have the Phocos connected to the engine battery at the "battery"
terminals? So what is "load" connected to?

If you have a diode splitter between house and engine batteries I would be
inclined to connect the Phocos battery terminal (I assume this is the
output) to the center terminal of the splitter. This will trickle charge
both batteries. It will not be the most efficient setup but its simple.
You could also install a switch to change the Phocos output from engine
(when moored) to house (when cruising).
