cant you just move the mast back so its behind the line of the towing
hitch?

Tried that with my Enterprise and Discovery. The mast then scrapes on the
ground.
Also be careful that you have enough height between the mast and the Dusco
roof if you do it the other way.
What I mean is that if the Disco goes up a hill before the trailer does then
the mast may whack on the roof,
this is especially likely to happen on a launching slip when reversing up to
get to the top of the slip from the road side.
If that makes sense.
