Are American small boat papers of any use in Europe ?used
Have an American (US Coast Guard) 100 ton Masters license , and have
it in the States to deliver sailboats; ( I'm a small boat sailor here ;notion
have a 30 foot sloop in Long Island, New York, waters). Girlfriend is
moving to Spain to keep her EU documents active, and I'm wondering if my
USCG papers would in any way help get me work in Spain .Is there any
of reciprocity ? Is there delivery work in the Med or other use for such?
papers ? Is there sailing work of any kind in the Spanish Mediterranean
Dunno. In the UK there is no requirement for paper qualifications, I'm
told
a lot of employers prefer experience to paper.
So you may get delivery work from the UK, but there may be requirements in
the destination country.
Hopefully, somebody who knows what he's talking about will be along
shortly
with some proper advice.

Probably an important practical factor will be the requirements of boat
insurers regarding skippers. It would be a good idea to contact a marine
insurance broker to find that out.
