Here's an idea. Buy a boat in the US, where the exchange rate is
favourable at present, and start your RTW trip from there.

Dennis.

Now that is a great idea Dennis. Also, I have to say that on the
whole, I believe the USA makes better quality boats than most.

Bearing in mind that the Pacific is a far more interesting ocean than the
Atlantic, buying a boat on the US west coast makes sense, and there are lots
of boats which will have already done RTW or Trans-Pacific for sale in LA,
SF or San Diego. I would much rather start such a trip in a boat that had a
proven record in ocean crossings than a basic under-equipped UK boat that
needed money spending on it to make it RTW-capable.

Well, (and here is an unashamed plug) I have a 34 foot timber sloop
for sale, which I sailed half way round the world (from Oz to here)
and is most definitely ocean proven. It could also be yours for 50k
Euros, but unlike a Sadler, it is timber and therefore quite sinkable,
(along with most other vessels). :)

Fully kitted up for long distance cruising, including wind gen and
vane steering.
