When a large ship runs over a small yacht there isn't a lot of time to
send out Maydays.
It's doing 30kts tops and is higher than a light house. In everything
except for very poor viz could see it miles away.
Of course the news story implies the possibility of collision is being
investigated. The disappearance could equally be explained by other causes
a Gas explosion could sink a yacht with no time to send a mayday as could a
surfacing submarine. Would there be much evidence showing on a ship after a
few days steaming?
