Shouldn't have been. Adding only such a small quantity of fuel into what
was a totally empty tank, and then deliberately heeling the boat (by
motorsailing) so that it all sloshes to the side made it virtually
inevitable that the takeoff tube would again be sucking air quite soon.

spot of heavy weather? Gosh, you must have been very confident that your
friend was totally mistaken.
