About 4 months ago after working really hard to lose 3 stone and get my selfComing back can be hard and extremely frustrating as your body
fit (for the first time in 20 years) I contracted a chest infection that
left me unable to run for sometime. Rather than get back in the saddle as
soon as I could, I used it as an excuse to totally slack off and "have a
rest".
Needless to say now I've started up again its agony!
A couple of 2 mile runs have left me with aching legs and burning lungs. The
pace is the same I used to do, (slow) but the endurance is shot. Whatever
happened to the body that carried me to my first 10k, did someone steal it!
Needless to say I know I've got some hard work in front of me and I'm
currently looking for an incentive 10k as a target.
won't/can't do what it used to. Listen to you body, don't be impatient,
or you will fall over again. Q: do you run in a dense city?
When I lived in London I was an asthmatic for the first time in my life,
it was the air, specifically the pollution laden air in London. I found
I needed flu-vax each winter as without every flu would cause my lungs
to fill with fluid, get infected, time off work and antibiotics.
I knew it was the air as on holidays in Scotland I found I could run up
Scottish mountains without my inhaler. Now I'm living in Scotland, by
the sea (Dundee) I don't actually have an in-date inhaler. If you keep
getting lung infections and inhaler may be necessary, consult your gp.
The only signs I get up here is that after not running for a while,
after running I cough a lot for several hours afterwards as I clear the
fluid in my lungs that the deep breathing has loosened. Running is the
only therapy I need.
