Hello,
Sorry if this has been discussed before
I am training for my first marathon in april (hamburg).
On a normal day, I consume about 2liters of water
2litres??? why?
but I never drink
while running. Even when I was running my first half marathon about a
year ago, I didnt feel like drinking at all.
I'm not surprised, tanked up on 2litres.
Do you think I should somehow get used to drinking while running or is
it OK to run the marathon without any water or sports drink?
Regards,
Oumer
Depends, on conditions, on how much water is in your stomach at the
start, on how well hydrated you are at the start, on how well trained
under dehydration you are, on how long a marathon takes you (the elites
can't drink enough at their work rates to stay hydrated, people taking
4-5hrs risk hyponatraemia).
I would worry about hyponatraemia if I drank 2l of water a day, not to
mention spending half the day in the toilet.
