If I remember correctly, PussNet were bought out by BT a few
years ago.
Yes they were.
BT have been buying up small IT firms, often ones known for being
customer focused. They also bought out Lynx Technology in Barlborough
(near Sheffield) and Basilica in Letchworth. They have now merged and
rebranded them as BT Engage IT.
It may only be a matter of time before Pusnet are merged into BT
Internet.
Have you noticed how many ISPs claim to be "award winning"? So many
awards, so few ISPs. It must be f*ck!n difficult to walk away without
one.
Tiscali make the claim, yet they have been the most complained about ISP
for several years in a row. Even Carphone Whorehouse cannot catch
up - but not for want of trying.

CPW have have now bought out Tiscali. One more small buyout and they
can
overtake BT. The Internet is going the same way as CB went.People are
buying
by price alone. Cheap crap companies take over the market, buy out all
the
other companies and peddle their crap under many brands. You no longer
know what you are buying.
When all the products are crap, and customer care is no more than a poor
joke, people wonder why.

Peter.

Yeah, I was with PussNet when they were about to buy them out. I joined
PussNet probably just as they we at the end of their golden era (on the back
of good reviews. Then all the crap came out about throttling which they were
denying and they they started banning/dumping customers for reporting this.
It got to the laughable stage that their marketing director and then their
MD were posting on the broadband website (I can't remember its name but its
the one that has all the discussion forums for each and every IP company)
and went in to ranting mode about customers who were complaining. I seem to
remember they were the first to go when BT took over.
I'm with Entanet now who don't seem bad and they have Usenet access which a
lot of IP don't offer now and they're against Phorm which is good. Still
along way away from the days of Compuserve in the early Nineties, where you
paid about £3 an hour for internet access plus expensive dial up rates as
well. Oh and my first modem, Supra 2,400bps, lightening fast, on an Amiga.
