Quality over quantity.

well said !

unfortunately you seem to be in the minority !!

with such a low required level to be achieved to get an m3 licence, the
number of people who have come out of the woodwork to ''teach'' the
syllabus amazes me.

Maybe they lowered the standard far enough for Amateurs to be able to teach it :~)

The trouble is that the government and their agencies do not need to worry
about how their changes affect Amateur or CB radio, only how much money
they can make or save.

Have you considered that, by teaching people, you can influence the way
these students will look upon the hobby? You are then in a position to
encourage them to learn beyond the exam.

I hate this idea that it is all about passing the exam. I saw the same attitude
when I was at school. As a teacher told us, "you can forget everything, once
you pass the exam".
Several years of your life, just to get a piece of paper? There has to be more
to it than that, the information has to be of more use than just getting a piece
of paper.

On a radio news program, it was said that employers will turn away anyone
with less than 5 passes. Do they not care what subjects they pass, as long
as they have 5 pass certificates?
Personally, I would rather have someone with2 relevant passes than 5 that
are useless in the particular job.

How many useless pieces of paper did you leave school with? Certificates
in subject which, to this day, you have never needed... so have long since
forgot all about.
I may have left school unable to cook properly but, hey... I could use a slide rule :~)

What good is that piece of paper if you cannot or will not use the knowledge it
says you gained?
The same goes for an Amateur or professional exam, the purpose has to be that
you can now do something - the certificate is only to give you the opportunity to do it.

Peter.
