I have just noticed that my (nearly) four year old Iiyma CRT
tois just slighty out of focus centre screen but sharp elsewhere.
Methinks replacement looms.
Doesn't sound good.
I would like another CRT monitor as I find them better and easier
colouruse with photographs - thay are just that much sharper, better
Iand overall 'cleaner.'
Huh!
Certainly for colour balance and contrast you can't beat a CRT, but
switched to LCD about 4 years ago, and haven't regretted it. Thenewest
ones have much better clarity and as for 'cleaner', I found LCD somuch
easier on the eyes.(yes, I
Anyone know where any CRT monitors are still easily available
thehave Googled but to no real benefit?)
If you really want one, eBay is probably the best, or have a look on
CPC website. The LG Flatrons are quite good (I had one of those afriend
passed on).It
Failing that can anyone recommend my a very good 17" or 19" LCD?
(branddoesn't need speed as I don't play games, just good resolution,
presumably a small pitch, and not costing the earth.
Depends on your budget really, I got a HP 20" widescreen off eBay
new though) for under £200, and I'm rather pleased with it. I knowit
isn't perfect for 'pro' photography, but it's good enough for mostprobably
needs, and certainly for amateur stuff. My old Formac 17" is
slightly better at colours, but hasn't got such good contrast (thatwas
over £400).rather
I also just got an Iiyama LCD for my daughter's PC, and that is
good too - it was only £45 on eBay. Of course the usual caveatsapply
when using eBay.stunning
It's also worth a look at www.ebuyer.com, they often have some
bargains.

I have to admit to having a bias towards Iiyama - this one (which I
was given for the letter of the month in Computer Active) has been
nothing short of superb. The softness is such that I can easily
convince myself that it is my glasses, but as the subject of most
pictures is in or near the middle it can be a bit off-putting.
Unfortunately eBuyer, whilst having some good offers, have a pretty
poor reputation in customer relations and especially in faults and
returns. CCL and CPC are rather better and I can collect from either
of them.
