Digital storage

I find that I am very rapidly filling up my 14gigs of laptop storage with
images and software.

What external storage do others use?

Also, whilst we're on the subject, I am off abroad next month and rather
than carry a bagful of cards it seems to be a much better option to buy
portable storage. But there my knowledge expires. As does that of the local
Jessops, Dixons and the local camera shop.

I see the Apacer photo juke box for sale in the mags, but is this the way to
go? And once loaded onto the 'jukebox', ahem., can they be removed when I
get home so I can manipulate them?

Anyone offer any advice?
