When clubs behave like the mafia

Cambridge Outdoor Club have recently been slated in the review section
of some naturist websites. They are not alone in this, Springwood,
Oakwood and several other clubs have received quite blunt and
unfavourable reviews on these sites.

What sets Cambridge apart though is their mafia like method of
attempting to suppress criticism. People who have dared to criticise
their little club have been tracked down and then sent malicious e-
mails by one of their members. Relevant extracts from a typical

I guess you'll make a slip sooner or later and that file against you
will help ensure you visit one of her majesty's special clubs where a
naturist, single man will be welcomed in with open arms and you can
enjoy the fruits of your meddling and destruction.

I gather your not able to drive currently, can't be doing the job
prospects any good I imagine, and now I've finally tracked you down I
can see your car is as full of unused crap as your mind. An enquiry to
one of your local residents about purchase of said heap filled the
final gap of exactly where you reside.
I was hoping to meet up with you then but I gather your "away" for a
while so that will have to wait until you return. Not to say I
couldn't make a trip to see you but I'd rather meet at yours as I have
some friends who would love to meet you and share a beer or two. They
will travel but they're big guys and they get very ratty if they have
to travel.

I deal in security in a sort of roundabout way and I'd strongly
suggest you look at investing in some better locks if you are going to
spend so long away from home you just don't want people popping in and
having a nose around. Particularly when it's such an awful mess. Makes
finding anything a long job. You'd be amazed at the interesting junk
people keen hidden away!

So I look forward to meeting up soon and I'll be keeping an eye out
for more of your interesting posts under whatever name you chose that
day so we have plenty to discuss.

The recipient of the message reproduced above was actually able to
identify the sender with reasonable accuracy through stylistic quirks
in the way it is written and persistent characteristic spelling
mistakes. Anybody who has received anything similar to this from
Cambridge or any other club following honest criticism of the club in
question on a website’s comment page is invited to contact me off
group so that we can discuss what ought to be done. I understand the
Cambridge club has so far ignored complaints about mails of this
nature being sent out by a member of theirs, but that is little more
than I would expect from them.
