Naive, I accept. But not "very naive". And I don't think I'm "very
new" to Usenet, although certainly nowhere near as long-serving as
many other urners.

As regards publishing one's email in clear, to avoid torrents of
consequent spam, simply ensure that one's mailservers operate a
reasonable anti-spam scheme. Those I use do, and my spam levels are
minimal.

If more customers complained to ISPs who fail to implement FREEly
available and extremely effective anti-spam schemes, then perhaps spam
would finally decline - although it will never disappear.
