Whats the point in having a members community if all and sundry are
allowed in, I did ask if it were possible to have a non-members
section but that was overwhelmingly vetoed by the forum members at the
time, the voice of the paying members who wished to keep the forum
free from protagonists and I have to admit they were right.

If BN wants to have a private forum to chat amongst themselves they are
fully entitled to do so. Whether they are "right" to do so depends on what
they want to get out of it. By closing it they lose some relevant info and
opinion but that's their choice.

It's good that it is free from the type of unpleasant argument any
newsgroup gets from time to time. Presumably BN members refrain from
personal insults and, by being "closed", it cannot be infiltrated by the
type of person who takes a joy in trying to disrupt any newsgroups whatever
their subject. Any unmoderated newsgroup gets those - unfortunately it
seems to be a fact of life - but I think they are a small price to pay for
the advantage of free discussion from a wide range of people. Just ignore
the troublemakers; they're not going to attack you physically and <you>
choose whether to take notice of their opinions or not. There are such
things as killfiles if they really annoy you.

Good luck to BN forum. I have no prospects of becoming a member ATM and
think it's a pity that it is closed but it's BN's forum and I hope the BN
posters will continue to post here too.
