What is more important is that many of our posters (and presumably lurkers) were pleased to know about the product and the announcement was both discreetly written and highly relevant.

I've just put the term "stick on flip flops", limiting domains to ".co.uk", into Google - guess the top level site (not including sponsored links)....

This was simply spam, those who want this product can easily find it with out the aid of unpaid for adverts in news groups.
That is very true Jerry but what you have not told us is how do people that have never heard of "stick on flip flops" google for an article of footwear they have never heard about.

Google "flip flops" first?... After all, if you're going to be interested in 'stick on' flip-flops you're going to be interested in flip-flops to start with.

I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to buy my flip-flops when I'm on holiday ... that's usually where I need them.

If the venue I buy from doesn't stock anything but normal flip-flops, I'd never know about stick on ones ... and I'm unlikely to ever Google for them, as I'm on holiday at the time.

I wasn't too impressed at the prices of stick-on flip-flops though ... but thanks for keeping the advert so prominent in the newsgroup, you may think you're arguing to prevent this, but you've actually given them more advertising than they could possibly have hoped for!
