I agree that it's not spam. I'd never heard of these things and was
interested to follow the link. If Jerry wants to do something useful let
him turn his attention to the stuff cross-posted in from other groups.

Really?. There's no end of cross-posting to rec.nude, and I see no sign that
that would die out if no one in rec.nude responded to it.

bigger problem is that this sort of
advertiser is allowed to get away with posting spam and that then
encourages other - possibly more prolific - spammers.

It's not a "bigger problem", it's hardly problem at all.
