Re: Glyn's Field, Morfa Dyffryn

I'm sorry to hear of Glyn's death, perhaps you could pass on my condolences,
although they won't know me.

I camped on Glyn's field just once. Looking back at my photos, I have 3
pictures (slides) one with a T-reg Ford Escort (that's a T on the end, not
the start!) clearly identifiable as Glyn's field due to buildings in the
background. These were taken during the August bank holiday weekend of
1981. These slides are machine-mounted in frames embossed with the date
code "11 81"

Unfortunately I have leant my slide scanner to someone at the moment, so I
cannot scan them. If you think scanning them would be any use I will try to
organise it.

The following was sent to me and I have been asked to pass on to the
UKRN news group
=========================
I know that some of you have been there and that some of you have met
Glyn. Well, he's still alive but only just, very seriously ill is how
is son, Dennis, describes his condition.

Anyway a couple of days ago we received a letter from Dennis and his
wife, Sue. Basically they are getting grief from the Snowdonia
National Park Authority regarding the use of the field for camping
purposes. Now Glyn was never much for officialdom and reading between
the lines of the letter the field was never properly registered as a
camping site.

Dennis and Sue have taken legal advice and are applying for a
Certificate of Lawful use for tented camping purposes (whatever that
is). In order to stand any chance of this being granted they need as
much photographic and written evidence as they can get in order to prove
continued usage over decades if possible. Of course we are helping all
we can and do have a number of photographs dating back to 1989 and can
provide anecdotal evidence that the field was used for camping for many
years before that.

In future the field will officially be known as Pentre Mawr Farm,
Dyffryn Arddudwy - their bed and breakfast facility can be Googled. I
guess it will always be Glyn's Field to us and many others.

I know that many UKRN readers, if not contributors, have used the field
for years. If they haven't already been contacted by Sue and Dennis
then now would be a good time to contact them if they have any evidence
that would help their application. The farm contact details are on their
website.

Glyn has been a good friend to naturists for many, many years. Dennis
shows ever sign of following in his father's footsteps. However he is
a better businessman than his father and will probably improve and
develop the site when a license is granted. Naturists will still be
the core business and he knows that.
