I don't doubt that there's more than a grain of truth is what you say
about BN here. And I would entirely agree that the change in direction
that you propose would if nothing else clarify what BN is meant to be
for.
But where I'm less certain is on your suggestion that such a move would
generate more members. Surely, any radical change in the direction and
purpose of an organisation risks alienating the present members who
might leave as a consequence -by whom I mean those weekend sun club
members you desribe. And there is no guarantee that any decline in
numbers will be compensated by new people attracted by the new
campaiging manifesto.
