I did it myself so I know it works.

Just had a read up on this basemap change idea.
The first thing that strikes me, is that the replacement basemap referred
to
in the instructions is a very old one, 2004!
Does this actually get update with the nu-maps lifetime mapping updates?
My
first thoughts would be that it gets updated, but will be switched back
to
the standard European basemap image embedded in the new update.
Is this right or does something else entirely different happen?

No idea but I know that deleting the gmapprom.img file to make room and
then
letting MapInstaller build the mapset and copy it to the Garmin, then
renaming gmapsupp.img to gmapprom.img works fine.

I now have 2009 maps.

I've just bought the lifetime subscription, and now it looks like I could
have got them for free :o)
I've got the 2010.10 download if you want it, it's about 3.5 gb mind! I
could dvd it and snail mail?
