I can moan about the UI later, although to be fair the Zumo is supposed

I've had a Zumo 550 for just over 2 years and think they are excellent
devices but the UI is not a patch on TomTom's IMO. I had a 2610 and 2720
before that and Garmin seem to dumb down the software every time they
bring out a new device. What sells Garmin to me is Mapsource which could
be better (again, IMO) but is very useful for planning routes then
downloading them to the Zumo and uploading tracks from the Zumo after a
trip.

Exactly what I'm looking forward to too.

I've just been having a first go at uploading tracks - from the TOG
tour. It's not completely straightforward, as there are hundreds of
tracking points even for a short journey - too many, for example, to
put into googlemaps. There are ways to get round this, but I've
already concluded that if a track simply covers a route you already
have (in Mapsource or the Zumo) it's easier simply to use that route,
saved as gpx.

And, doing a Cab, here is the result - except I got one road wrong
which I might change anon. It does rather illustrate the downside of
living so far north.
