It seems to do what you want. A bit clunky, but it allows you to drag
placemarks about and also what I would term 'nodes' on the route between
placemarks. I'll perhaps knock up an example of a finished route and
post a link.
Yes, but it's still hideously clunky. Since each waypoint in My Maps is
in an ordered list, why aren't they merely numbered, with the ability to
move them up and down the list, then you just click "calculate route",
and it plans the route, then you can drag and drop various sections of
that route (nodes), as per the normal route planner now.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but they've already got all that
functionality, but don't seem to want to bundle it in one place.
There are different strategies for route planning. The basic method
(after initiating 'Get Directions') is to use the 'Add Destination'
function to add waypoints to an initial two point route. You can then
move them up and down in the destinations list as you say.
You can also grab a node point between destinations and drag it to tweak
the route.
Once saved to Mymaps you can add info to the placemarks that are created
for each destination.
The new feature is the 'Draw a line along roads' mode.
TBF, that is very clunky as it doesn't create unique placemarks for each
major waypoint you create by fiddling about with the 'line'.
I suppose it might have a use for a bit of quick planning by eye IYSWIM.
Probably best using the original strategy in your case.
Yeah I figured that, but thanks for the assistance anyway though.
