Bit of an odd one.
I'm flogging my PC as I don't use it anymore and I'm using this Mac
instead.
The PC is an Acer model which didn't come with the XP Media Center
Edition install CD and I've lost the restore CD (which is a disk image
from when the machine was new) so I'm wondering if anyone knows if I
can do the following:
I've got a hooky Windows XP Pro ISO here which validates fine with a
proper retail key.
I've got the Acer 'free upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium' DVD
hanging around.
Can I format the drive, install XP Pro form the ISO, upgrade it to the
latest release and then use the OEM Vista Home Premium DVD to upgrade
it to Vista?
I've got all of the correct serial numbers for the OEM XP (still on
the PC case) just not the physical disk.
Any ideas if it'll work? I doubt the XP Pro ISO will validate against
a XP Media Center serial. <stumped>
I'm not sure if I am missing something, but why can't you just use the
Vista upgrade disk as it is ?
