that's odd - I bought a 3 year theft policy for the sprog's laptop from
them as his mother wouldn't pay the extra on her house insurance. Over a
year ago, so perhaps they've changed the rules[1]. It was only £50 then,
£80 now!

£102 for a £1369 machine with a theft/accidental damage policy.

Looks like a reasonable policy. I'll give them a call tomorrow as
they don't define this further:

""

Unattended Equipment

The occurrence of an Insured Event whilst the Equipment is left
unattended:
....in the open air, in a publc place or in any outbuilding
""

My MacBook Pro is left unattended in full view of colleagues on the
2nd floor of a building when I'm away from my desk, but it's secured
to the desk properly (ie. not a table leg) by a Kensington Lock using
the lock slot in the aluminium unibody of the MacBook in such a way
that someone would have to take the desk apart and/or saw through the
metal table frame and/or destroy part of the MacBook case (lock slot)
and/or take a hammer to the lock and/or take croppers to the lock
cable in order to pinch the machine. I need to ask them if it's
reasonable for me to leave it unattended in my office when it's
secured by a Kensington Lock.
