My Dad was a 6th form physics teacher up until he retired 3 years ago.
The whole of my growing up there has been a litany of experiments which
were being done for the last time, equipment being thrown away in skips,
books being removed from the library, and science courses being dumbed
down and folded together into single subjects.

It's a bit sad really. I can tell myself that children these days are
just being taught different, more modern, stuff in a safer manner but I
suspect the real thing that's happening is a lot of make-work coursework
and pointless tests.
