Those are the posters, YTC. You can't measure the number of lurkers.

The only place I've seen "membership" numbers for usenet is those who
are subscribed to a group via Google Groups. Clearly subscribers can
read or post or both but are no way representative of how many people
may be reading via usenet (or via web streams of usenet posts). It's
amazing how far posts get as I found when I googled on my name and
suddenly saw references to posts on forums I didn't know existed.
