MOTAD MAN HERE!- lurking sounds underhand- I am just here to help

Way hey!

Rub the old zutty pipe hard enough and a genie /will/ pop out of the
end of it.

Lurking isn't underhand, Ian - it is merely a usenet term for people
who read but don't habitually post replies, or start threads. The
ratio is reckoned to be 10 lurkers to every poster, so you're in the
majority.

An oft used analogy is that UKRM is a bit like a pub. Lurking is like
going to the same pub every night, always sitting next to the same
group of people and listening in on every conversation they have, but
never saying hello.

Creepy.

That's the problem with analogies ... they're rarely 100% accurate.

To my mind there's nothing "wrong" with lurking ... I've had emails from
lurkers before that basically say "regular X asks the kind of questions
I'd ask, and pretty much says what I'd say, so I don't feel the need to
participate, but I like reading".

Basically, people should do what they feel like doing. If they want to
post then great, I couldn't be happier. If they'd rather just watch,
then that's cool too.
