OT: Afraid of the dark/London Dungeon query

Coming late to the parenting thing, I frequently struggle to deal with
kids and their associated crap, not to mention exes and theirs.
However, Elly's youngest is currently curled up in bed, "too afraid to
sleep" and very scared of the dark, at nine years old. He has a very
fertile imagination and has had a bit of a problem previously, but
nothing like this. His stepmum took him to the "London Dungeon" on
Monday, since when he's had real problems getting to sleep and
nightmares when he does sleep.
Acid Q - HTF do I deal with this?
Less acid Q - does anybody have a view on the London Dungeon and its
exhibits? From a bit of googling a lot of the wax exhibits look
pretty gory and very realistic - should there be an age limit on
disaplays like this?
