I just put a sata drive in this fucking computer and it's not there
(of course the BIOS is more than happy but windows is BLIND).
I've downloaded countless drivers, but they all waffle on about RAID.
It's only one disc. I now have a Scsi raid thing without drives and an
invisible sata drive. The chipset is VIA and the drive is Seagate.
Like I say, the BIOS recognises it as a non-raid sata disc.
Help!!!!!
What motherboard? Some have onboard RAID and windows tends to label all
RAID controllers as SCSI. It may do the same with a SATA controller. For
example I have an old Highpoint IDE RAID card in this pc and device manager
has it listed under "SCSI and RAID controllers". If you can provide details
of the motherboard (exact make and model) and whether or not you are using
an add-on SATA controller card I can probably work out what your problem is.
Windows 98 precedes SATA by several years so whatever SATA controller you
are using will need additional Win98 drivers (assuming such drivers exist of
course).
