OK, so I've mentioned before to one or two about the idea of an
off-piste week in Engelberg, a favourite resort of ours, some time
this season, but in such a vague way that I wasn't expecting a
response.
Question: how long does it take, on average, to learn to snowboard?
If you're under 20: two days
If you're over 40: at least a week.
Second question: how much physical punishment does one soak up in the
process?
Depends on the snow. You fall over a lot. If it's been snowing a
lot, then the falls aren't too bad. If it hasn't snowed for a
fortnight and the pistes are fairly solid, it can be purgatory.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think your back could cope,
and I don't think it's your sort of thing.
It's something I have always wanted to do, my balance & co-ordination
could probably defeat me.
There's an indoor place nearby, looks like fun.
The gear looks expensive too.
