Can anyone recommend some memory testing software?

My Acer's been running faultlessly for a couple of years, but it's
been running a tad short of memory. So I ordered another 1gig from
Crucial.

But I cocked up; I went through the configurerer and selected the
1gig chip (to end up with a gig and a half), but for some reason then
changed it for their other (cheaper) option of 2x512 (ooops).

So anyway, I replaced my 512 with their 2x512s. And it's run
beautifully for a month or so. So today I flogged the original chip...

...and tonight I ended up with a BSOD memory parity error. Bollocks.

It's possible that a clean of the contacts and re-seat may sort it,
but to check it out I'd like to exercise the memory for an extended
period.

Any suggestions? And will I have to run DOS or CP/M or somesuch..?

You should find auto-booting floppies and cds if you google.
