I maintain that it is perfectly unreasonable for The State to require
that I carry ID. Then again I choose to remain living in a state where
I am presumed to be innocent and as long as I remain that way they can

I notice that you don't put forward any reason for your view (that
it's "perfectly unreasonable").

Note that I'm not supporting the UK guvmint's desire to introduce them
there, just that I don't see it as being a problem in any of the
countries I've lived in (three, so far) where it's considered normal.
