Cheeky boy, it's perfectly clear. I am referring to outgoing mail and
the control of user accounts. When users are not anonymous they are
reluctant to use an ISP account for illegal purposes.

It's not illegal purposes I care about - it's viruses and trojans
installed on luser PC's spewing spam out like a cracked sewer.

And for that port 25 blocking is a good first step - followed by good
spam & virus filtering on inbound *and* outbound SMTP from the mail
server farm.

Erm, correct me if I'm wrong [1], but if a PC gets a worm and starts to spew
out spam, they'll all come from the ISP's namespace anyway, so without some
additional spam protection along the lines of keyword scanning (or
whatever process they use: I confess I have no idea), their MTA will
forward it on anyway (on condition that i) relaying is switched on by
default _or_ ii) an RFC 1912 lookup returns true).

Like I say, I've forgotten a lot..
