[OT] Ping the network and/or /Java/Lazlo gurus.

One of our applications is an online valuations system which uses Lazlo
for the front end, & Oracle 10g as the database. Two clients
(investment managers) have gone live with it, one of whom is having
problems.

The issue is when some of their clients login to the app from wherever
they are in the country, it works fine for a while then just kicks them
back to the login screen. It's very inconsistent, which makes it a pita
to identify.

The fact that it works fine for the other client, & in-house, makes me
suspect a network issue, especially as they have some other issues
internally such as reports sent to a network printer taking ages.
Unfortunately we haven't got any network gurus, & the client has no
on-site IT bods.

Their setup's all Windows stuff, with seperate Tomcat & Oracle servers.
I believe their connection to the outside world is adsl through
plus.com, through which all the online valuation users will be
connecting.

I haven't been involved with this application, but I believe it maps
the user's java session id to their database user id, to stop the same
user logging on more than once. If they do logon a second time, that
session becomes active, & the previous one is killed in the database.
As that would result in the first session going back to the logon
screen, which is what's happening with this problem, I'm wondering if
the java session id is somehow changing for no obvious reason, so when
the user next clicks a link, the session id no longer matches the one
held in the database for that user at that time.

Does that sound possible, or can anyone think of something else that
might cause it? Is there a Tomcat/Apache setting that affects whether
sessions change, which might explain why it's only happening on this
one site?
