Basically, it seems to be more advantageous to have a company bike if
you do relatively few miles and have high repair costs (based on buying
a fairly cheap bike like my K1100LT). The more miles you do the more you
seem to gain by charging your company the mileage instead. With the
fairly high mileage I do, I'm around the crossover point where it's
better to not have a company bike. In my case, said point was around the
17k/year mark.

Until some H&S person decides that it is "forbidden" to use bikes on
company business.

The trouble with talking to my H&S person is that it awfully looks like
I'm talking to myself...
