This metaphor from one of those pages is really good, and has
solidified my belief in the principle:

"Imagine a long threaded bar with a nut on it. On the nut imagine
turbine blades sticking out all around. It's easy to see that if
things are arranged the right way round a wind could cause the turbine
to turn and crank the nut gradually upwind."

Not technically a metaphor, and sadly not adding anything to the
discussion either. It's just another application of the same idea,
with all the same problems inherent in the original.
