HI.
Even though I try to keep the gixxer clean there is some gunge
building up that I CANNOT remove. What will do it?
What gunge? Inside the white wheels mostly, and over the brake
calipers. Brake dust built up into layers I guess.
I have used two different alloy wheel cleaners, (Simoniz and Mer),
car wash, soap, degreasers, petrol, cola and 'bike cleaner'. There
are still black smears on the forward edge of the wheel spokes and
black dots of various sizes all over the inside of the wheel.
The front is much more effected than the back, reinforcing my brake
dust theory.
I've considered more severe products such as caustic soda or oven
cleaner but I don't want to do any damage. Would steam do it? I
don't have access to a vehicle steam cleaner but I could pipe steam
from a wallpaper stripper.
Anyone got a clue to a good way of getting the wheels back to nice
shiney white? Toothpaste and an old toothbrush... hmmm.
Ta.
Wonder wheels, but be careful. Dont let it dry & use the brush quite
hard.
