Line printers, they still exist.

At Galileo we had a selection of these - they had to be kept in a small
room of their own with extra sound-dampening as they were so loud.

Incredibly fast though.

Not fast enough for the idiot bank manager who wanted a printout of
ALL mortgages that were in the red. Now was that two or three van
loads that turned up in his office?
