bike, it's certainly not part of the appeal.
Well, yes, but... I'm not sure where a "sense of exhilaration" comes
from, but for me it seems to come from things that are risky, so there
must be some sort of connection, in my head at least.
It's far from universal. I certainly don't get any sort of buzz from
narrowly escaping death.
Ace has put it better than me. But it does have something to do with
the risk vs control factor. I can do semi-challenging physical things
in other situations (er, playing guitar, juggling, whatever), and they
don't give the buzz that biking, boarding, etc give.
