Oh FOAK,
I appear to have been hacked sometime in the last few days.
I run VNC (rather daftly using unencrypted passwords[1]). I assume
that's how the buggers got in, I can't think of any other routes (PC
sits behind a firewall in the router that passes traffic to the PC on
port 5900).
The first clue was that I couldn't get in using my password, I got an
authentication failure. Got home tonight to discover that something
called "Psotnic" had been installed.
I've removed it, and cleaned the registry, so I think I'm OK. I'm now
having fun changing loads of password.
Anyone got experience of this fucking thing?
[1] Yes, yes, lesson learned.
Do an erase patition / format and start again from scratch. Apply
patches, install applications again. Firstly remembering to use another
machine, or a linux live CD to change all your online passwords.
