Other recommendations?

Seems a lot more long winded than just taking your laptop to the
meeting and typing notes as you go.

Too much hassle in getting the laptop out with customers, etc.

Plus TBH, I find using a laptop in meetings rude, as your concentration
isn't 100% on the meeting. IMO, of course.

Tablet PC is pretty good at this sort of thing, and is only the size
of a pad of paper.

Of course, I realise this is a pretty expensive solution to the
problem.

that one Verdi used to post here was a bit wank: I assumed he had taken to
the bottle as his posts were misspelt and sometimes incoherent.

I wouldn't want to disappoint you...

That machine is a expensive solution if all that's wanted is note taking.
It's better for that than it is for communicating: the only person who has
to read the notes is the person that wrote them. It works quite well for
that provided one takes some time to clean them up afterwards. Of course,
one might just as well use pen and paper then transcribe them to a PC
later, (assuming one can touch type), or scan it in.

Tablet PCs and similar devices do seem to be getting cheaper now, so there
might be something that's affordable.

As for the handwriting recognition, my Sony doesn't need to learn my hand.
That makes it quick and easy to use but it's possible that a program
which had to be taught the user's particular writing would do a better job.

Of course, the erratic nature of my posts provided a certain amusement.
