I think I might find it very hard to go back there, to be honest, as I
should imagine it's very different to the Paradise of my childhood.
Incredible empty beaches where we used to go conch shell collecting at
low tide, the scent of the lime groves (and swamps!), playing rounders
at school and losing the ball amongst the rooftops, hanging out in the
Botanical Gardens waiting for Dad, swimming in bays full of multi-hued
rainbows of angel fish, building speedboats out of sand, the bloke who
wrecked his Citroen 3 times, the pilot who couldn't measure the
runway, the Russian submarine, the revolution...
Jumpers for goalposts...
