Oh, quite, but they are both "illegal". Once you decide to cross the

I don't accept that.
A few years ago, I would scarcely dream of overtaking across solid white
lines. For various reason, I started doing it occasionally.
Subsequently, I've shown less regard for other road restrictions - low
speed limits for example - than I had before: one might argue that one
paved the way for another. However I entirely reject the idea that my
recent, deliberate motoring transgressions make it more likely that
I'll go out and commit murder or any other violent crime. To my mind -
and morals - like most people these are not remotely comparable
offences.

Don't forget: something may be illegal for you, or me, but not for
others. Like falsifying a mortgage application, shooting a Brazilian
electrician, or declaring war for no good reason, to give but three
examples.

And the relevance of that is... what?
