We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Work in progress <me@xxxxxxxxxxx>
saying something like:

Interesting, for some value of historical interest in what brand of
fairies to believe in. He makes a good point though, about the likely
real reason for the crusades - simple power, land, and wealth. Another
one he hints at is an attempt to repel Islamic influence in the region.
