I'm taking this as proof that it doesn't matter where you live, there's
always potential for a group of kids to get out of hand. FWIW, one of
them lives about 100 yards away in a fucking expensive house with a
couple of new and expensive cars on the drive. Parents were very
reasonable - his mother immediately jumped in her car and went to drag
her son off the street, then came round to say she was happy for the
police to give her son a bollocking and get the names / addresses of the
other kids involved.

I'd still fit a complete window rather than mess around because size
isn't as important (fnaaar) when you do it that way than if you try to
fit the sealed unit into an unknown frame.

Hmmmm.

I'll got with WUN's suggestion of getting a man in to do the pane that
needs doing. It's only the outer glass that's broken, so I have time to
shop around for quotes etc.
