My original point was that when introduced it was supposed to be an
aid to farmers. Obviously this isn't a recent innovation and things
have moved on so the original benefits are no longer valid but I can't
find anywhere where I've said that they are still valid.
A quick search shows that a lot of countries refer to it as energy
saving, I wonder if this is something you've taken into account when
you quote figures of 99.9% of the population. Personally I can't see
how that works but it's on the internet so it must be true.
