OK, did the theory, CBT and passed DAS. I want a bike to have fun on dry weekends and commute to work (20 - 40 miles each way depending on site) in the summer.
I've had a look through all the magazines. I've decided I liked the look of a few. So - today I went to the bike show. I sat on a few bikes. I sat on LOADS of bikes.
Some felt good:
Honda CBF600S Honda VFR800 Kawasaki ER6-f Kawasaki Z750S Yamaha FZ6 Fazer Yamaha FZ1 Fazer Suzuki DL650 VStrom Suzuki DL1000 VStrom KTM 950 Adventure BMW R1200GS Ducati ST3 Ducati Multistrada
some not so good:
Suzuki SV650 Suzuki GSF650S Bandit All "naked" bikes
and some I'm not really sure of:
Suzuki SV1000 All sportsbikes where your arse is higher than your elbows.
Now I need to get a test ride on some of them. I also need to get some kit (helmet, jacket, boots, gloves).
Should I get the "gear" first? Will dealers lend me the gear to test the bike (would be a bit of a pain if I got gear that completely clashed with the colour of the bike I eventually bought).
I did my CBT and test not soo long ago.
Bought 2003 Kawasaki zx6r 636cc the A1p model.
I suffer from back trouble but this is a pretty upright sportsbike, very comfy on 150 mile journeys, great fun and if your carefull, reasonably economical. Good on fast twistys, not wrist acheing on town rides.
The dealer leant me lid and jacket to test ride the bikes, I bought whole shebang from him and got discount.
Tried Fazer - Id have got sick of it after a couple of months
VFR800 - rather have sprint st
Z750, Lovely but Naked, Z750S not enough fairing to make a difference from Z750.
Im already yearning for more power but ill wait untill I can at leat get my knee down before I go for the ZX10 or the Gixxer thou. Maybe when im 50.
